The "library" is turning into a true Learning Center shared by students and teachers. It is such a happy place to visit and whenever I feel the need to be uplifted, I will spend some time in this truly flexible and vibrant learning space that changes its look by the hour. Since it is a common area belonging to all, we need some basic housekeeping rules to ensure the area is safe and easily used by anyone wanting a quiet space to read, think or reflect (cave), a small intimate group area for collaboration (camp fire) or large gathering space for individuals coming together to learn (watering hole).
In order to accomplish any or all of the above learning situations, I am going to be asking that Kelli, Michelle, James and Robin to oversee the following:
- Extra stacked chairs must be stored and not left in main library area. Several people already bumped into it
- The main library should not be an extension of work or storage area for an extended period of time. This includes floor, table top and/or counter areas
- Teach our students to push in chairs and put away games, books, supplies, chromebooks when they are done working
- Let Michelle know if we lose furniture sliders as we have extras to secure to the bottom of furniture which will ease movement of furniture AND keep the person moving the furniture safe
- Encourage your students to give input as to what is the best furniture configuration that will maximize their learning experience
- Have fun using this space - it belongs to all of us!
