Teacher Clarity

www.thecorecollaborative.com/unpacking   Some of our teachers who attended 2017 Visible Learning Conference heard Barb Pritchard and Paul Bloomberg's session on Impact Teams.  The work of Impact Teams is around teacher clarity and team collaboration.  As we continue to delve deeper into teacher clarity and this year especially, aligning teacher clarity (standards, learning progression etc.) across grade levels, please look a the wealth of information that is already on the above website.  It will give you a start and rather than reinventing the work that has been done by other teachers, provide you with a common base from which to begin your discussions. Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) Resources Sign Out

Hello Everyone! If you are or will be using the LLI system in the library, Michelle has created a sign out/in sheet since a lot of us are using it and it has been difficult to track the whereabouts of materials, especially when more than one person needs the same leveled texts.   There are sign out/in sheets for each of the colored kits (Orange, Green, Blue, Red, and Gold.)  They will be attached to a magnetic clip that will be hanging from the sides of the shelves. PLEASE   sign out/in for the materials you are using when borrowing them from the shelf and return the materials as soon as you are done using them. Teachers, if you have PTTs that are using the system, please pass on this information to them. Thank you! Kathy Kathleen Makimoto Curriculum Coach Ka'imiloa Elementary School (808) 689-1280

My meeting with Sean Tajima will be taking place in early October and by then I will need to share a plan inclusive of data tracked, the ways each grade level is addressing the needs of our most struggling stude

Choose Love

Thank you to all our Ohana volunteers yesterday afternoon and evening in helping to make our Choose Love parent evening a huge success.  The parents who did come to the presentation were very much appreciative of the message Scarlett shared with everyone.  I have never in my entire career working at Kaimiloa saw a whole line of parents who stood waiting to speak to our featured speaker.  Even as the line shortened, more parents stood up to share their hearts with Scarlett one to one.  True compassion in action was displayed by our families who attended. There was such a short turnaround to put this event on and I am grateful for the amount of support we got from our staff in making this event happen even though Hurricane Olivia seemed intent on interfering with our plans.  Some of our volunteers may not be in the picture below which was taken at the end of session with Scarlett so I wanted to give a shout-out to all who stayed to help with the meal service, coordination and child-c

Correlations from iReady to SBA analysis

As we dig deeper into iReady implementation this year, I wanted our District Resource teacher Daniel Noia to pull some data for us correlating SBA and iReady data.  Below are his findings.  This may help grade levels who are looking at iReady scores and goal planning for their classes. Library

The "library" is turning into a true Learning Center shared by students and teachers.  It is such a happy place to visit and whenever I feel the need to be uplifted, I will spend some time in this truly flexible and vibrant learning space that changes its look by the hour.  Since it is a common area belonging to all, we need some basic housekeeping rules to ensure the area is safe and easily used by anyone wanting a quiet space to read, think or reflect (cave), a small intimate group area for collaboration (camp fire) or large gathering space for individuals coming together to learn (watering hole).   In order to accomplish any or all of the above learning situations, I am going to be asking that Kelli, Michelle, James and Robin to oversee the following: Extra stacked chairs must  be stored and not left in main library area.
