Updated STRIVE HI Report - 2017 - 2018 SY

(See attached file: 281_StriveHIKaimiloaEl18.pdf) Attached above is the updated edited STRIVE HI Report that recalculates our percentage of students on track to English Language proficiency based on Wida scores.  Instead of 21% as previously reported, we are at 45%.  Thank you to all ELL teachers for working so hard to improve the language skills of our students.  The 45% is also an increase from the previous year which was at 38%.  The statewide average is at 41% so we have surpassed that percentage also.  We are especially focused on our dual language programs being offered in Grades K, 3 and 5, noticing that our students are also making positive gains in iReady as well as SBA scores since beginning this program two years ago.  Thank you Fritzel, Michelle and Leah for taking a risk when I first asked if you would be interested in teaching our ELL students using both their native and English language.   Appreciate all teachers consideration to accommodate Nancy Aviles testing

Fw: Story

Extremely grateful  (Choose Love) for our staff who went above and beyond for one of our families.  Sometimes, we do what we do without expecting to know what impact it will have on others.  This is an example of how a homeless mom whose school-age child needed a place to call school if only for a short period of time was able to share what Kaimiloa has done for her family. Thank you to our VPs Laura and Chad for coming up with a Safety Plan that kept the child safe and allowed the mom to concentrate on taking care of herself first, so she could care for her family.  A even bigger Mahalo to our counselors, teachers and support staff who followed safety plan.
