Fire Drill this Thursday, April 4th Between 8am and 8:30am

Hi Everyone, I realize we just had a fire drill last week. But we are required to do one every month. I want to knock out April's fire drill this week as testing begins next week for some classes. The drill will be held sometime between 8am and 8:30am on Thursday. We wait until head start and PreK are done with breakfast and then we call the drill.  Chad Nacapuy Vice Principal Kaimiloa Elementary (626)-502-6403 Confidentiality Notice:  This e-mail message, including any attachments, is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and/or privileged information.  Any review, use, disclosure, or distribution by unintended recipients is prohibited.  If you are not the intended recipient, please contact the sender by reply e-mail and destroy all copies of the original message. April 1 & 2

Please put on your best smiles Kaimiloa Visible Learners!  Attached you will find the schedule and agenda for Dr. Amanda March's visit on Monday and Tuesday.  This is almost like a mini WASC but in a much more focused way.  Dr. March will be on our campus visiting classrooms, interviewing teachers and students, sitting in on Articulation and Guiding Coalition sessions.  Thank you to Grade 1 who will be hosting Dr. March in their PLC session and having her experience what a PLC looks like at Kaimiloa. The visit is to see how far and how deeply we are using the Visible Learning framework.  So whether she is observing a classroom lesson where Teacher Clarity  is embedded in the Learning Intentions/Success Criteria so well that there is Student Clarity, talking to students about the lemonade recipe they are creating and hearing Student Voice, interviewing teachers and hearing their passion and inspiration as they hold HIGH Expectations for all students and speaking to parents about

Seeking Donations for African School

Aloha Cougar Ohana, My husband is currently deployed in a remote region in Africa.  They are stationed near a K-6 school that has pretty much nothing! His unit is collecting donations to help them.  They are in need of clothes, books, school supplies, etc. They learn primarily in English.  If you have any school supplies, kids clothes, or educational materials you are looking to get rid of I would greatly appreciate any donations! I am personally paying to ship all the items, so I won't be able to send larger items.... I'm trying to fill flat rate boxes! Thanks so much for your kokua!  Many Thanks, Cortney Confidentiality Notice:  This e-mail message, including any attachments, is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and/or privileged information.  Any review, use, disclosure, or distribution by unintended recipients is prohibited.  If you are not the intended recipient, please contact the sender by reply e-mail and destroy all copies

Hi Teachers Since Wednesday is no longer an extended day, the PD makeup will begin at 2:45 pm in the library.  For those of you who do not need extended makeup but would like to attend the topic will be google drive and a new feature in google drive called team drives.  Team Drives will be setup so grade levels and departments will have their own drives to place things in. Much like folders for the grade level. If you are interested then please attend. I will be going over team drives first. Parking & Library Use 3/25-3/29

Aloha Family, The Project GLAD training takes place each day next week except for 5/26 Kuhio Day on Tuesday.  Again, teachers from our school as well as others in the district will be learning in the library which means additional teachers and subs will be using our parking spaces as well.  We will have the parking in the back sign  out every day as a reminder. Also, because the library will be in use from 7:45am to 4:00pm each day the library will not  be available  for all other activities.  We thank you for your cooperation and support in making this learning opportunity possible. Visible Learning Visit/Study - April 1 - 2

I did want to provide further information on the scheduled April 1-2 Visit Corwin has contracted from an outside evaluation source who will be visiting Kaimiloa.  The reason why I don't have definite agendas/schedules is the evaluator Dr. Amanda March and I were able to converse via phone conference for the first time yesterday.   There are still some things we are trying to work out between Corwin and our State regarding the way the Interview Release forms, as they are currently written.  As most of you know, the biggest issue not only with companies we work with who provide professional development but also businesses we work with here on Island when trying to secure the facilities for camping, field trips or banquets is the "indemnity clause".  I have offered the replacement language to Corwin that would meet our State policy and hopefully I get word soon whether it is acceptable or not.   Meanwhile, because there will only be a week to get ready for the visit

Academic Plan

Below is the draft Academic Plan for SY 19 - 20 that Leadership Team has been working on for the past two weeks.  We've looked at not only this year's Academic Plan, but also the WASC Visitation Report and recommendations made by the visiting team as we reviewed and crafted what we had.   Please note the Academic Plan is due to our CAS today for his input and recommendations however we wanted to share what we have with staff for your review, not over Spring Break but definitely, please find some time to take a look at it.   (See attached file: SY18-21 Kaimiloa AcPlan (Draft) - 031319 (1).pdf) Deb Hatada, Principal Kaimiloa Elementary School Office (808) 689-1280   FAX (808) 689-1284
