Trend Report

This is the time of the year when in looking at the data, we sometimes get discouraged and feel as though no matter how hard we are working, we can not see the improvements we are making.  I wanted to share with you the trend data that looks at data points over time to share with you the real progress we are making over time.  In a nutshell, these are some highlights of the SY 17-18 SY Trend Report.

  • Enrollment is dropping however our Sped and ELL subgroup % is increasing
  • Increasing percentage of teachers who are teaching 5 years or more at Kaimiloa.  +7%
  • SBA Reading - % Meeting Standard
Grade 3 - 38.3% - Up 6.4% from previous year
Grade 4 - 31.4% - Up 2.7% from previous year
Grade 5 - 45.8% - Up 8.3% from previous year
Grade 6 - 37.7% - Down 2.6% from previous year
  • SBA Math - % Meeting Standard
Grade 3 - 50% - Up 11.8% from previous year
Grade 4 - 33.3% - Down 1.3% from previous year
Grade 5 - 36.6% - Up 12.7% from previous year
Grade 6 - 40.8% - Up 4.2%
  • SBA Science - % Proficient Grade 4
42.8% - Up 8.5%

While overall our CK Complex schools have been getting lower scores in Math and is considered a focus area at all schools in CK, Kaimiloa has been increasing our math scores steadily over the years, rather than going down.  Although our overall school's ELA score is still 12% below CK Average, we also are making gains in those areas.  I know that grade levels are looking at their latest data from iReady and am encouraging everyone to take a look at your goal setting and see if there are adjustments that need to be made now that we are heading well into second semester.  I have every confidence we will continue to make upward gains this school year.  Thank you all for your hard work and focus on supporting all of our students in reaching their goals.

Correlations from iReady to SBA analysis

As we dig deeper into iReady implementation this year, I wanted our District Resource teacher Daniel Noia to pull some data for us correlating SBA and iReady data.  Below are his findings.  This may help grade levels who are looking at iReady scores and goal planning for their classes. Deb Hatada, Principal Kaimiloa Elementary School Office (808) 689-1280   FAX (808) 689-1284 Good morning, Yes. That is correct. I apologize for not making that clear. Restating just for clarification   Greater than .90 High correlation means that there is a definite relationship between performance on iReady and SBA Between .6 and .9 Medium correlation means there might be some relationship or connection between how well a student does on iReady is predictive as to how well they will do on SBA Less than .6 Little correlation means scores on both assessments have no relationship at all to each other I look forward to working with you folks on the 18th a...
